I might have some time this weekend to look into it if no one else has any suggestions/thoughts.

You may want to provide more information on what's happening. Is it launching at all? What EXACTLY happens when you try to use innerspace/isxeq2 in Windows 8? screenshots too, etc..etc..

In the future you might want to research your favorite programs/games to make sure they will work on an operating system before you upgrade your system.

Are you sure it wasn't because it was a forced patch?

I'm trying it on a pc since you could get it for $15 and I haven't had any problems

I've been running Win8 pro on my pc and laptop for a few days now. I have had zero issues with the anything so far.

You will have to give a lot more details if you want further help from this group. We can't fix anything unless you can tell or give a very good idea as to whats actually broken.

Not sure about logs tbh but here goes. I open innerspace right click it and go up to everquest patch or no patch. And it immediately says eq2.exe or everquest2.exe depending on what i tried to launch, has stopped working. So can i pull up a log somewhere to see why?

Tried this as well with same results. I went as far as wiping out all eq related things from the pc and reinstalling them all. I then reinstalled eq2 and innerspace only. Try to open eq2 via innerspace and same error. It really seems like innerspace is not working with windows 8 atm. I can run eq2 from the eq2.exe or everquest2.exe if i open to sony/everquest II dir and just double click them. So i know eq2 is working just not when i try and launch threw innerspace. Thank you for the help tho.

Stuff in red - Well, we know it IS working, as people in this thread have said so. It may not be working for you, but the fact that it is working for them, means innerspace DOES work with windows 8, at this very moment.

Do you have ISXEQ2 autoloading? If so, disable it, does it crash on startup, or only after it tries to run isxeq2?
Not sure why you tried to load eq2.exe via innerspace, I can't see that serving any purpose other than creating issues, and confusion of what is, and isn't working.

At this stage, you should take some screen shots. Take screen shots of your innerspace profile, then if you can, open the console when you load the session before it crashes, and screen shot that also.

I did a fresh install of eq2 and a fresh install of innerspace. Not even installing isxeq2 and trying to load eq2 from innerspace and it does nothing. It worked for me as well in win8 till first patch day. Makes me think that via windows updates or fresh eq2 install that is what broke it. At any rate i installed win 7 on a partition and im running it all fine from there. I dont even get a valid error when i try and load eq2 it simply says eq2 client application has stopped working.

Okay, so it's specific to Eq2 and innerspace. If you want additional help, provide the screen shots requested.

Are you using the normal version of innerspace? Try the developer version and see if that helps. Have you tried running innerspace as administrator?

Well i formatted the hd and reinstalled win 8 pro again and then reinstalled everything. So far so good so not sure what was corrupt before. Keepin my fingers crossed this time.

Having the same issue with win 8, started about the same time as yours did. Innerspace reports in the con that everquest2.exe was executed successfully but it never loads up. Uninstalled every thing and just installed innerspace and still nodda. Going to head over to their forums and see what I can find.

Long before I ever migrated over to win8, I saw this issue. I had a post over there with the issue I had. I ended up reformating my system and reloading win7. This is a weird bug with innerspace. Any information you can give lax to hunt it down would be great.

Windows 8 can do some odd things with permissions (particularly if you copied a prior EQ2 installation from another place into a folder like Program Files) that causes EQ2 to crash. Maybe try right clicking the EQ2 folder and changing Security on the folder to allow programs not running as administrator to read/write files in the EQ2 folder.

Ok it works on beta that is on another drive but not on eq2live that is on another drive. Thinking about ditching wind 8 if I can't figure out whats going on.

I have 3 drives, drive#1 System(os), drive 2 Games (pageing and crash cache?), drive 2 moves, music and the eq2 beta/test. So I don't know what is stopping if from loading.

Um, patch your beta client to live, see if it works. Most likely will. If it does, it's more likely to do with how you installed then where it's installed and permissions.

I can say that its going to be something you did and not win8. I know win8 is very different but its basicly win7 with a new wraper..

Really don't see how it is something I did when it has been working for months then just stopped one day. No matter where I put it on that drive it don't work and the permissions are the same as the drive it works on, so not sure wtf is going on. Plus it isn't like it doesn't work if I just try to play in normal mode, it only don't work when IS tries to launch it. Hmm, IS is on the same drive as where I have the seconded copy of EQ2 and it works. I'll move IS to the dive that has the one IS can't launch on and see what happens.

I use windows 8 it works fine you just have to manually change the eq2 exe and isx dll. everytime theres a patch. and manually put in your subscription info is all.

oh and I almost forgot when you download the current eq2 exe make sure you click on properties scroll down click the unblock hit ok and all that . download the latest version on tortoise made for windows 8 then make a folder do the svn and all that jazz everything for isxeq2 has to be done manually. as for inner space download it windows 8 will give you a compatibility message ignore download it anyways. then go into running programs made for older version of windows I choose to run it in compatibility mode for windows xp with service pack 3 did the same for my eq2. works fine just have to update isxeq2 manually everytime theres a patch and that's because windows 8 doesn't support net framework 2.0 isx needs to use a newer version of net framework then it would work automatically.

After last couple days of updates im back to the eq2 client application has stopped working error when launching game via innerspace. Its so annoying. Has anyone had this today in win8 ?

Even wierder is i have win7 installed on another partition of same drive. When i steer innerspace to the D:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest II it runs fine. But if i then try and run it from C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest II it gives me the eq2 client application has stopped working. So im in windows 8 which is running off the c:\ drive while steering innerspace to the d:\ drive to get eq to run. Prior to last 2 days of updates it was working fine. Also i get that it is probably a permissions issue but am hoping someone else has had this issue and figured out a work around. I have tried running in comp mode the everquest2.exe and running as admin none of that is working.

Similar problem. ISXEQ2 will not pop up the login/password box upon first being run, but you can manually add that so that in.

I'm an idiot. Just update them manually using the users sig above me.

Hi guys,

I just installed the program in a new pc and it has windows 8; whenever I run eq2 everything is fine until I run isxeq2, the game crashes with the message saying: EQ@ Client Application has stopped working.

I tried deleting everything from the computer and reinstalling again and still doesn't work. I removed the extension from innerspace startup and eq2 loads fine in innerspace but as soon as I do ext isxeq2 on the console it crashes again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

Did you make sure that you're using the proper EverQuest2.exe? I'm curious if updating that properly will fix it -- then I can figure out why it's crashing. http://www.isxgames.com/isxeq2/exe is where the correct EverQuest2.exe is located. Just try following the instructions on that page to replace your EverQuest2.exe and then be sure that you're loading EverQuest2.exe within innerspace without letting EQ2 patch (i.e., make sure you're launching EverQuest2.exe, not EQ2.exe)

You may also try getting the latest ISXEQ2.dll directly and place it in your /Innerspace/Extensions directory (overwriting the one that is there) to see if that helps. I don't think it will since (if I'm right) it would be the .NET patcher that is crashing and it would run anyway. But, you could try it.

Otherwise, for everyone crashing ..the only thing I can do to help is if you install Teamviewer on your computer and then email or PM (on IRC) me the information so that I can go on your computer remotely and see what's happening. There are a lot of folks using Windows 8 with no problems, so I can't fix something that I can't see. So, this is all that I know to do.

Today i booted up Win 8 to see if i could get it working. I renamed EverQuest2.exe to EverQuest22.exe. Then in config of innerspace routed it to launch that file for the no patch and it loads. Now of course ISXEQ2 is only meant to be used with EverQuest2.exe Extension 'isxeq2' could not be loaded, pops up in console. But im convinced now its some security setting that im overlooking somewhere that is blocking it from loading the right way. Anyone have a simple fix for this yet?

Clean install of Windows 8 on Monday. Installed Innerspace and pointed everything I needed to to my HD. ISXEQ2 and ISXOgre both running without a single issue.
